Since 2022, I have worked with Chrome Productions as Television Director for Christie's flagship London Evening Sales.
These prestigious live broadcasts showcase some of the world's most significant works of art, attracting collectors, institutions and bidders from across the globe. Every production demands the precision, pace and reliability of live television while maintaining the elegance and atmosphere expected from one of the world's leading auction houses.
Working alongside Chrome Productions and supported by the broadcast infrastructure provided by Creative Technology, I lead the live television coverage that delivers these landmark sales to audiences worldwide.
My Role
As Television Director, I lead a production crew of more than 40 people, coordinating approximately 12 cameras, the majority of which are remotely operated PTZ cameras.
My responsibility is to direct every shot throughout the live broadcast, ensuring that the coverage follows the rhythm of the auction while capturing the atmosphere of the room, the auctioneer, the artwork and the bidding process.
Working closely with producers, vision mixers, graphics operators, replay, engineering and camera operators, I ensure the production remains polished, accurate and engaging from the opening lot through to the final hammer.
Each programme is broadcast live without the opportunity for retakes, requiring clear communication, fast decision-making and absolute confidence in every aspect of the production.
Global Live Production
These broadcasts reach an international audience through multiple platforms, including:
Christie's Live
YouTube
Global in-house online bidding platform
The productions allow collectors around the world to participate in real time, combining traditional auctioneering with modern broadcast technology to create a seamless live experience for viewers and bidders alike.
Whether covering a tightly contested bidding battle or revealing a masterpiece for the first time, every camera move and every transition is carefully timed to support the drama and pace of the auction.
Working with Chrome Productions
I have worked with Chrome Productions for many years across a wide range of premium live productions.
Their collaborative approach and commitment to innovation have helped establish a new benchmark for live auction broadcasting, combining world-class production values with reliable global delivery.
The partnership between Chrome Productions and Creative Technology enables complex international productions to be delivered with the quality and resilience expected by clients operating at the very highest level.
Previous Experience
Before directing Christie's flagship London Evening Sales, I worked with Chrome Productions on productions for Sotheby's, including the groundbreaking Auction of the Future.
Created during the COVID-19 pandemic, the production connected London, New York and Hong Kong in a single live global broadcast, allowing auctions to continue despite international travel restrictions. The event realised $363.2 million across three live sales and demonstrated a completely new approach to premium auction broadcasting.
The production went on to receive the 2021 Webby Award for Best Branded Live Experience, recognising the innovation, creativity and technical excellence of the broadcast.
This experience laid the foundations for today's global auction productions and continues to inform my approach to directing complex, high-profile live events.
