Overview

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the world's premier motorsport events, bringing together leading manufacturers, legendary drivers and motorsport fans from around the world.

Working with Gravity Media, I was part of the production team delivering the live international coverage as Relief Director and Vision Mixer, supporting the production across one of the busiest live motorsport events of the year.

My Role

Working across both directing and vision mixing allowed me to provide additional flexibility to the production team, stepping into either role as required while maintaining consistent editorial and technical standards throughout the live broadcast.

Supporting the lead production team, I alternated between directing and vision mixing as required, ensuring seamless continuity throughout the live broadcast. Working across both disciplines required a detailed understanding of the editorial objectives, production workflow and technical operation, enabling the team to maintain consistent broadcast standards across a demanding multi-day event.

The Festival's fast-moving format—combining hill climb action, manufacturer launches, interviews and live features—required close collaboration with producers, replay operators, graphics, engineering and camera crews to deliver comprehensive live coverage.Remote Production

The Festival of Speed formed part of Gravity Media's remote production workflow.

While camera crews and presentation teams operated on site at Goodwood, much of the production team—including directors, producers, graphics and replay operators—worked from Gravity Media's Production Centre in West London. This approach combined the flexibility of remote production with the broadcast quality expected of a major international motorsport event.

The Result

The production delivered extensive live coverage to audiences around the world, capturing the racing, manufacturer showcases and unique atmosphere that make the Festival of Speed one of the highlights of the motorsport calendar.

It was a privilege to contribute as part of an experienced production team, helping deliver consistent, high-quality live coverage across a demanding multi-day event.
