Major League Soccer entered a new era in 2026, with IMG moving many productions to its remote production hub at Stockley Park, London. As Match Director, I am one of those responsible for directing live broadcasts for audiences across North America and the World using a fully remote workflow.

Using existing SimplyLive technology, the MLS now has a much smaller footprint, providing the same coverage. Cameras, talkback, graphics, audio and talent are all brought together seamlessly for a fraction of the cost.

The move to remote production has transformed the way live football is broadcast. Cameras, replay, graphics, commentary and production teams are connected through high-bandwidth fibre networks, allowing world-class coverage to be produced from a centralised facility without the need for a full outside broadcast operation at every venue.

Working in this environment requires fast decision-making, clear communication and complete confidence in the production workflow. Every broadcast combines multiple camera feeds, replays, graphics, commentary and live match coverage into a seamless programme for viewers across the United States, Canada and beyond.

Delivering live football remotely requires the same editorial standards and production values as a traditional outside broadcast, while coordinating production teams across multiple locations. Maintaining communication, timing and editorial consistency is essential throughout every match.
